Environmental Field Technicians are a key valued part of NEDT’s customer service team responsible for performing labor activities as necessary to assist in completing field projects at customer locations in New England. This is an entry-level position, and no experience is required. NEDT provides all the necessary training to succeed and position individuals for further career development into Foreman and Supervisor roles as experience and abilities allow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Hazardous waste and oil spill clean-up
  • Operates light and heavy equipment including oil spill booms and vacuum equipment
  • Packaging non-hazardous and hazardous wastes and/or hazardous materials
  • Trenching and digging
  • Confined space work

Any of the above-referenced work may be performed in hazardous atmospheres. Due to the hazardous nature of the work and of the materials handled, NEDT requires and provides that all Environmental Field Technicians be properly trained to meet the requirements for “general site workers” 40-hour training as identified in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER). Environmental Field Technicians will be trained and competent in the use of Personal Protective Equipment including: protective clothing, air purifying respirators, and supplied air respirators.

When not assigned to specific projects, the Environmental Field Technician will perform other duties as requested by his supervisor or other management personnel.

PAY starts at $20/hr with the ability to earn $22+ within 90 days.

SKILLS needed to succeed as an Environmental Field Technician:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Spoken and written English language proficiency.
  • Must have a good work ethic and be willing to step up and contribute as needed.
  • Needs to be reliable and on-time every day—early morning starts are common.
  • Be willing to be on-call and respond to after-hours emergency spill response calls.
  • Safety-oriented mindset with the determination to follow all procedures and policies.
  • Team player able to get along with other NEDT employees and be a good, positive team member.
  • Must be receptive and open to following directions and instructions from peers and supervisors.
  • Must be open to learning, problem-solving, and adapting to new situations.

Hours:
Monday – Friday work week.
At least 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities available.
Typical hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm but change daily according to the project schedule.
On-Call one week approximately every 5 weeks

All candidates must be able to satisfactorily pass a drug screen, driving record examination, and criminal background check.
